I have taken the time to explain pro's and con's of cone filters, Uni Chips vs AFM vs Software. I do agree, but what I have learnt is that, most of the noobs out there who come to ask these questions, NEVER ever listen to the good advice experts like Panic etc will give them. Sure I get that the cone filter question has been raised plenty times before, and a search by the OP would have gone some way in preventing this post in the first place, however a bit of restraint goes a long way.Īnd what gave you the courage to say that only now? Why not in your first reply to the thread?
#Do k and n filters make a difference free
Let's keep the tech section free of unnecessary posts and rather focus on what it is intended to be - a platform for anyone to come and draw on the wealth of technical knowledge that is available. In my opinion it is responses like this that potentially lead to new users to the forum not wanting to join the club as a paid up member. the increase in pressure will atomise the fuel particles into a fine mist adding an additional 9.36kw, but only below 1000rpm.ĭude, while I get the humor behind your post, as I am sure many of us who no longer consider ourselves noobs will, I don't think it is necessary. What you can do with your airbox is shave it on the inside making it as smooth as possible and de trumpet it. that will give you the nice sound without compromising the performance and fuel. i would say if you want this sound you are looking for, keep the paper filter and cut some holes in the bottom of your air box. it will make your car sound fast but in actual fact you will probably loose power and fuel consumption will go up.

Running a cone filter on a normal car will purely be for the sound. putting on a decent cone filter in a performance car then i would say yes do it as you will probably gain 3kw with it and my self and panic has proven this on my car. i have run logs on my car while on stage 2 while using a paper filter and the car was pulling timing as it wasnt getting enough air through. I have one on my car because it had lots of mods, pushing good power and that turbo is sucking in a lot of air, the cone filter makes it easier for the car to suck in air and more air. My personal opinion about cone filters are:
